Outlook 2002-2003: Setting up a POP email account

This following article describes how to set up a POP email account for BT Business Email in Outlook 2002/2003.

  1. Start Outlook 2002-2003.
  2. Go to the Tools menu and select Email Accounts. Then Select Add a new e-mail account and click on Next.
  3. Select POP3 and click on Next.
  4. Enter the following:
    Your Name:
    Your name or your company name as you would like it to appear on your outgoing email.
    E-mail Address:
    Your BT Business email address. This username@yourbusinessname, where yourbusinessname is a domain name hosted by BT Business or a third party domain name registered with BT Business for mail relay.
    User Name:
    The username for the mailbox. If you used @mydomain.com or @activewebdezign.co.uk in your email address, the username is the part of the email address before the @.
    The password for the mailbox. This may or may not be the same as the password you use to connect to the internet.
    Incoming mail server:
    Enter: pop3.activewebdezign.co.uk.
    Outgoing mail server:
    Enter: smtp.activewebdezign.co.uk.
  5. Click on More Settings to display the Internet E-mail Settings dialog and select the Outgoing Server tab. Then check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box. Select Use same settings as my incoming server box, and click on OK.
  6. Click on Next to get the following stage:
  7. Click on Finish.

You have successfully set up your Outlook 2002-2003 email client to send and receive email
